Cel­e­brate Amer­i­can Craft Beer Week with us! We will be host­ing Liv & Ryan of Fox­hole Brew­house from Will­mar, MN.

We’ve worked together to cre­ate some of the best beer and cheese pair­ings, just in time for sum­mer enter­tain­ing. You’ll have the oppor­tu­nity to taste up to five dif­fer­ent beers and cheeses through­out the event. Visit with the Mak­ers and learn what makes local cheese and beer so funky and delicious!

April is just around the cor­ner. You know what that means? Grilled cheese month! Not that we need to give you a good excuse to cel­e­brate, but here it is — Grilled Cheese and Paint. This is our 2nd annual event and it’s full of great gourmet grilled cheese sand­wiches and your own per­sonal paint­ing mas­ter­piece. Oh, and don’t worry, you can also ‘sip’ away as you paint — since we have locally made wine and craft brews avail­able for purchase.

Cheese and Chocolate Pairing

Just like beer, wine and cheese, choco­late fits right in the fer­mented foods cat­e­gory. Ever imag­ine pair­ing your favorite choco­lates with your favorite cheeses? We’ve paired up with Josh and Kristin of Ter­roir Choco­late, our local choco­latiers, for a tast­ing ses­sion you won’t want to miss.

The tast­ing will include a sam­pling of 4 cheeses, 8 choco­lates and a glass of our favorite locally made wine. Non-alcoholic bev­er­ages are also available.

This could be the per­fect Valentine’s Day gift for that spe­cial someone!

In the tra­di­tion of Mark Twain and Jean Shep­herd, Dave Barry and Gar­ri­son Keil­lor, Jerry Nel­son is a humorist whose beat is the Amer­i­can heart­land, a small-town world of pickup trucks and Sun­day night pan­cake din­ners, drop­ping in on neigh­bors and com­plain­ing about the county agent.

His depic­tions of daily life, from the point of view of an ex-dairy farmer and tac­i­turn hus­band with a twin­kle in his eye, are read by 250,000 peo­ple a week—and occa­sion­ally woven into Prairie Home Com­pan­ion scripts. Explore Minnesota: Wine & Cheese

Join me for a FREE pre­sen­ta­tion series about Min­nesota wine at this year’s State Fair!

I will be join­ing top local wine and food experts for a series of 30 free pre­sen­ta­tions at this year’s Min­nesota State Fair, Aug. 21– Sept. 1. The pre­sen­ta­tions – which range from State Fair food and wine pair­ings to a day in the life of local wine­mak­ers to explor­ing Min­nesota winer­ies – will take place every day of the State Fair at Min­nesota Wine Coun­try, located at 1271 Under­wood St. between Carnes Avenue and Jud­son Avenue and across the street from the Agriculture/Horticulture Building.

While Min­nesota may not be glob­ally known for wine yet, what many Min­nesotans don’t real­ize is that our state’s his­tory with grapes and wine­mak­ing spans more than 150 years. Today in Min­nesota, there are more than 40 winer­ies and 600 vine­yards across the state pro­duc­ing inter­na­tion­ally award-winning wines — thanks in part to four cold-hardy grape vari­eties devel­oped by (my alma mater) Uni­ver­sity of Minnesota’s wine grape program.

My pre­sen­ta­tions are Sat­ur­day, Aug. 23 at 5:00 PM and Sun­day, Aug. 24 at 3:30 PM.
